TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, June 27 (PIA) -- While Bohol province remains under COVID-19 Alert Level 2, Tagbilaran City and 14 towns have been de-escalated to Alert Level 1.
In the recent Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) Resolution No 168-G series of 2022, it approved the recommendation of the Sub-Technical Working Group for Data Analytics by placing 15 of Bohol’s 48 towns and city under Alert Level 2 effective June 15-30.
Placed under Alert Level 1 are the City of Tagbilaran and Batuan, Calape, Corella, Dimiao, Duero, Garcia Hernandez, Jagna, Lila, Loay, Loboc, San Isidro, San Miguel, Sevilla, and Sikatuna.
In his visit to Bohol a few months before the elections, Department of Health Sec. Francisco Duque and members of the Coordinated Operations to Defeat the Epidemic (CODE) Team explained that a de-escalation of the Alert Level 2 to Alert Level 1 is possible if a local government meets the parameters needed for a downgrading.
The IATF and the CODE Team said the parameters include a vaccination accomplishment of 80% of the senior citizens (which significantly hits way past 70% of the general population eligible for vaccination), a well-managed local transmission evidenced by low numbers, and low hospital bed utilization.
Bohol officials, during the visit, have aspired for the IATF to finally downgrade Bohol’s alter level for the local economy to pick up and rebound.
Bohol has logged a 60% vaccination rollout accomplishment.
Tagbilaran City recorded 100% vaccination accomplishment as it also helped the towns by vaccinating outside-the-city-residents who come to the city for work.
Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnell Yap said he is making sure that those who are working in the city are well protected as they could bring in the disease if they are not vaccinated.
To date, 14 towns have followed Tagbilaran City in hiking up their vaccination coverage, enough to convince the Sub Technical Working Group on Data Analytics of their high vaccination coverage. (RAHC/PIA7 Bohol)
