CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT)-10 awarded various local government units (LGUs) and partner national government agencies (NGAs) for their valuable role in the implementation of the Vaccine Information Management System (VIMS) in the region.
At the height of the pandemic, the COVID-19 Inter-Agency Task Force created a team that designed, developed, deployed, monitored, and evaluated the Philippine COVID-19 Vaccine Information System. This is where DICT developed four systems that were successfully crafted and implemented that include the VIMS, DICT Vaccination Administration System (DVAS), DVAS-Mobile, and VaxCertPH.
“We already started the transition of the Vaccine Information Management System (VIMS) to DOH, kasi technically 'yung VIMS, in the national vaccination program, basically it is really the DOH who will implement the system. The DICT is just the technology enabler kami lang ang gagawa ng system,” said DICT-10 Regional Director Sittie Rahma V. Alawi.
Alawi is looking forward to expanding the close links between government, businesses, and citizens, as well as discovering new growth potential for northern Mindanao.
She further expressed her eagerness in working together with various partner agencies and LGUs to intensify efforts in keeping Region 10 and the rest of the nation immune, safe and resilient against COVID-19.
The LGUs that received the award were Malaybalay City and San Fernando in Bukidnon; Aloran in Misamis Occidental; Mambajao in Camiguin; Magsaysay in Lanao del Norte and Cagayan de Oro City in Misamis Oriental.
