CRDRRMC leads observance of National Disaster Resilience Month

BAGUIO CITY (PIA) - - The Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CRDRRMC) with the Office of Civil Defense   leads the observance of 2022 National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) with the theme, “Sambayanang Pilipino, Nagkaka-isa Tungo sa Katatagan at Maunlad na Kinabukasan.”


The month – long observance will be formally launched on Friday, July 8, which shall feature cultural rites and awarding ceremony of the region’s Disaster Resilience Champions.

The highlight will be on July 16, coinciding with the commemoration of the 1990 Luzon Killer Earthquake and the 4th Year Anniversary of PTV Cordillera’s Public Service Program, Isyu@Serbisyo.


The main NDRM 2022 program will be held at the Baguio Convention Center where there will also be an exhibit of different disaster risk reduction and management assets, equipment, models, and IEC (Information, Education and Communication) materials, among others.


At SM City Baguio, there will be a One – Stop Shop Government Service Booths by various regional line agencies.  Free medical mission with mobile vaccination, and free legal consultation will also be conducted at the Malcolm Square.


Other NDRM – related activities include poster making contest for elementary, high school and college students with the theme, “Tamang Kahandaan, Kaalaman at Pagtutulungan Ukol sa Lindol ay isang Kalasag ng Bayan.”


The CRDRRMC will also spearhead on July 12 a Focus Group Discussion with local DRRM officers on Improving Financial Accountability, Transparency and Efficiency in the utilization of local DRRM Funds with resource persons from the Department of Budget and Management, the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Commission on Audit and the Bureau of Local Government Finance.


On July 21, there will also be a Cordillera Resilience Webinar on the CRDRRMC Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Standard Operating Procedures and Guidelines and EOC Report Development.


CRDRRMC Chairperson and OCD Regional Director Albert Mogol enjoins all regional line agencies, local government units and other DRRM stakeholders in the region to participate in the observance, and set their own NDRM – related activities.


He shared that this year’s NDRM theme underscores the importance of collaboration of all Filipinos to overcome the challenges of this pandemic and prepare ourselves for new emerging hazards/disasters towards building a safer, adaptive and resilient future.


He also lauded the CRDRRMC members and other DRRM stakeholders in CAR for the continuing pro-active stand and in keeping the “Binnadang” (Bayanihan) spirit alive, in ensuring a disaster/calamity- resilient communities in the region. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
