Sen. Ejercito to push health facility enhancement at SIMC

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - Senator John Victor “JV” Ejercito vowed to push for the health facility enhancement at the Southern Isabela Medical Center in Santiago City.

Sen. Ejercito made his promise during the mass oath-taking and inauguration ceremonies of all elected officials of Isabela held at the Isabela Convention Center in Cauayan City on June 29, 2022.

It is recalled that during his stint as a senator in 2013-2019 and as the senate committee chair on health, and also the author of the Universal Health Care Law, his office initiated the funding of P300 million for the construction of the SIMC hospital building which is now benefitting the people in the Southern Isabela and its nearby provinces.

“Now that I came back and once again given another fresh mandate as your senator, I will seek and initiate the establishment of specialty centers in SIMC,” Ejercito said.

He said he has targeted that the SIMC will be having a Lung Center, Kidney Center, Heart Center and Cancer Center for ailing patients.

SIMC in Santiago City is a Level-3 hospital with Medical Residency Training Program and deemed as the end referral institution of all lower healthcare facilities in Isabela and the adjacent provinces of Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao and Mountain Province.

The hospital’s authorized bed capacity was increased from 50 to 350, while existing service capability, professional healthcare services, and health human resources were also upgraded accordingly.

Meanwhile, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Isabela has passed Resolutions No. 22-24-09 and 22-24-10 both dated June 21, 2022 naming Honorary Isabelenos or adopted sons of Isabela Senators JV Ejercito and Raffy Tulfo in recognition of their efforts in promoting the welfare of Isabelenos.
