BJMP Cauayan City enrolls PDLs to PhilHealth

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Cauayan City enrolled all Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) under its custody to the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth). 

Jail Officer 3 Pritzibel Balagbagan said there were 142 additional PDLs in the facility who were already enrolled to PhilHealth.

Balagbagan said they are 240 PDLs in under their custody.

She said that the enrollment of PDLs to PhilHealth is mandated under Republic Act 11223 otherwise known as the Universal Health Care Law which provides all Filipinos with quality health care without much cost.

She als said the BJMP Cauayan City also conducted Tuberculosis Caravan in partnership with Cauayan City Health Office. 

"All the PDLs have undergone tuberculosis screening as the disease is common inside a jail facility which need to be addressed immediately to prevent the spread among the PDLs," she added.

“During the tuberculosis screening, there were nine PDLs who are positive with the disease and are now undergoing medications,” Balagbagan said.

Balagbagan assured the relatives of the PDLs are properly taken care of especially in the maintenance of their health while inside the jail facility. (OTB/MGE/PIA Isabela)
