BONTOC, Mountain Province(PIA)--The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross – Mountain Province successfully conducted a four-day emergency response skills training to the first batch of teachers from the different school districts in the province.
Thirty teachers from Barlig, Bauko, Besao, Bontoc and Natonin learned Basic Life Support and Standard First Aid which include basic bandaging and splinting in the training held on July 4 to 7 at the Multipurpose Hall in Bontoc.
The training aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of teachers in emergency response as well as to strengthen camaraderie between them. It also aimed to forge active cooperation, commitment, coordination and support among the teachers as part of the healthcare team.
Schools Division Superintendent Sally B. Ulallim emphasized the importance of equipping all teachers with disaster preparedness skills especially that face to face modality of learning will be implemented in this school year.
Trained teachers will assist the school DRRM coordinators and district nurses and can even apply first aid in their own advisory class.
The 4-day training was also in line with the celebration of the National Disaster Resilience Month 2022 with a theme "Sambayanang Pilipino, Nagkakaisa sa Katatagan at Maunlad na Kinabukasan.”
