San Pedro mayor signs EO 1, establishing unit for good governance

SAN PEDRO CITY, Laguna (PIA) — San Pedro City Mayor Art Mercado has signed Executive Order No. 1, an order creating the Ugnayan sa San Pedro (USaP) Unit for Public Participation, Accountability, Transparency, and Good Governance.

The unit aims to promote good governance and transparency in public administration, and is one of the priority of his administration.

San Pedro LGU said that the aim of Ugnayan sa San Pedro unit is to have an active, informed, and involved public that creates an inclusive partnership between the local government and its constituents.

USaP will also provide an avenue for the public to properly air their grievances and access public documents and information regarding various services, projects, and transactions.

In a press release, the city government said that they adapted a similar initiative that is being implemented by Pasig City. On May 2022, Mercado and Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto held a meeting to discuss possible projects that can be implemented in San Pedro.

The unit will be spearheaded by the Office of the Mayor, in collaboration with the City Administrator’s Office, City Legal Office, Public Affairs and Information Office, Management Information Systems, Records Management and Archives Office, Command and Control Center and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

USaP will be formally implemented this Thursday, July 14. A booth will be inaugurated at the San Pedro City Hall lobby on Monday, July 18.

The city public information office said that the public may reach the unit through different platforms such as the hotline 8847-6417, Ugnayan sa San Pedro Facebook Page, Twitter account @SanPedroUSAP, and  thru email at: usap.sanpedro@gmail.com.

USaP will also entertain calls and communication from 8AM-5PM and all communications that will be received beyond office hours will be responded to the next working day. — Christopher Hedreyda, PIA4A (with reports from San Pedro City Public Affairs & Information Office)
