PSA Quezon sets PhilSys mobile registration sites for indigenous people

LUCENA CITY, QUEZON- The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)- Quezon provincial office conducts mobile registration for various groups of indigenous people in the province of Quezon.

According to PSA Quezon, the most recent one was carried  out in the island municipality of  Polillo last  June 25-27, 2022 , with  Dumagat-Remontado communities. There were 108 Dumagat–Remontado who registered to PhilSys in this municipality.

Provincial Statistics Airene Pucyutan said the  on-site registration is a continuing  endeavor of the Philippine Statistics Authority which started in 2021, in coordination with the local government units, PSA Quezon  PhilSys registration teams  have successfully conducted several on-site registrations in the municipalities of Alabat (50 Aeta), Buenavista (578 Aeta), Burdeos (300 Dumagat), Catanauan (1,120 Aeta), Polillo (108 Dumagat-Remontado) and Real (20 Aeta) with a total of 3,170  IPs  benefitted  in this project.

Prior  to the registration activity, PSA-Quezon coordinated with the National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP) Quezon for the list of IP leaders and chieftains as well  as the list of  communities and sitios  where IP groups are located.

The undertakings aim to bring PhilSys services closer to IP groups and provide them with a valid proof of identity through Philippine Identification  card  the PhilSys Number. The PhilID and PSN can be used in availing services in public and private institutions such as financial assistance, claims and opening of bank  accounts.

The PSA-Quezon also entered into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the NCIP as part of the effort to make the Philippine Identification System registration easily accessible to indigenous communities.
