DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, July 22 (PIA) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) together with Dumaguete City government is set to distribute 80 fiberglass motorized fishing boats with accessories to fisherfolks in the city.
Under DOLE’s Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP), the motorboats will help the fisher-beneficiaries support and augment their family's income.
The newly-elected officers of four fisherfolk associations in the city have been formally inducted into office by Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo.
Remollo also informed the members and officers of the associations that they are the target recipients of the said fishing motorboats.
The City Agriculture Office has been tasked to identify the recipients and facilitate the provision of the fiberglass motorized fishing boats.
The officers of the following fisherfolk associations led by their respective presidents took their oath office administered by the mayor: Barangay Tinago Fisherfolk Association (BATIFAS) led by President Edwin Duran; Nagkahiusang Mananagat sa Piapi Purok Anduhaw (NAMAPPA) with President Celso Temio; Looc Fisherfolk Association (LOFA) with President James Rubio and Bantayan Fisherfolk Association (BAFA) with President Esperato Abode.
