The Department of Agriculture (DA) Provincial Agricultural Technology Coordinating Office in Siquijor is calling all farmer practitioners in the Province of Siquijor to enroll themselves in the Registry System for Basic Sector in Agriculture (RSBSA).

RSBSA is the official registry system of all farmers, farm laborers, and fisherfolks. In the Philippines.

It is an electronic compilation of basic information of framers, farm laborers, and fisherfolks, their agricultural activities, demographic, and socio-economic characteristics.

It is a joint effort of DA with the Department of Budget and Management, Philippine Statistics Authority, Department of Agrarian Reform, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government. 

Agricultural Center Chief Gregolito Bunado said farmers should enroll in RSBSA as this will serve as a requirement and basis for providing financial assistance, subsidiary funding, and insurance services for farmers and fisherfolks.

“Those registered in RSBSA are given priority in the targeting and implementation of respective programs. For instance, you want to apply for crop or livestock insurance, you should first be enrolled in RSBSA before you can apply for such insurance,” explained Bunado.

DA is currently doing a massive registration of RSBSA and enumerators are going from barangay to barangay to enroll farmers and fisherfolks.

Those who wish to enroll in RSBSA may inquire from their respective locality on the schedule of registration.

Registrants are advised to bring an original and photocopy of their valid I.D. and a 2x2 photo.

Farmers who are landowners are also advised to bring the original and photocopy of their land title or any proof of land ownership while those farmers who are tenants must secure a certification from their barangay. (PR/Mary Jane Banglos, DA-PATCO)
