DAR6 gives thumbs up on PBBM’s agri reform plans

ILOILO CITY (PIA) -- The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) 6 is elated on the agrarian reform plans of President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos, Jr. following his recent first State of the Nation Address.

DAR 6 regional director and lawyer Sheila Enciso, in a Facebook post, said that the agency is one with the President’s statement, particularly on imposing the one year moratorium of payment of land amortization and interest payments among agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs).

“It will not only allay the burden for farmer beneficiaries but also, it will help them to focus their resources in procuring farm inputs like fertilizers, seeds, planting materials, and farm machinery, ” Enciso emphasized.

It can be noted that President Marcos, Jr. cited that this is included in Republic Act No. 11469 or the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.

The President also said that those ARBs who have yet to receive their awarded land under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) shall receive it without any responsibility to pay any amortization.

“The condonation of the existing agrarian reform loan will cover the amount of 58.125 billion pesos benefiting 654,000 agrarian reform beneficiaries and involving a total of 1.18 million hectares of awarded lands,” President Marcos stressed.

Marcos also underscored the 52,000 hectares of unused agricultural lands of the government which will be distributed

among landless war veterans, landless surviving spouse and orphans of war veterans, and landless retirees of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) in accordance with Section 40 of the Republic Act No. 6657, as amended.

Meanwhile, DAR 6 assured the agency’s steadfast commitment in following the directives conveyed by the President.

“DAR is sure to sustain its role of transforming lives through the land reform program,” the agency said in a Facebook post. (JBG/LMLE/PIA6)
