LAOAG CITY, July 27 (PIA) – Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc says there are no significant damages and casualties in Ilocos Norte, following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that hit Northern Luzon this morning.
 
“As of now, no casualties and significant damages have been reported in Ilocos Norte. Government offices in the province are permitted to suspend work for the day as they deem fit,” said Manotoc.
 
During the inspection and damage assessment conducted by the disaster risk reduction and management offices of the local government units, there have been reports of minor cracks from some old buildings and establishments.

In Badoc, the RoRo port of Pagsanahan Sur suffered fissures up to five meters in length while the façade of a shopping center in a particular village in the municipality also manifested cracks.
 
Meanwhile, work and classes in both public and private schools have been suspended in Batac City in view of the imminent threat of aftershocks brought by the tremor.
 
However, offices providing critical emergency services will be maintaining their workforce.
 
As to road advisories, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management and Resiliency Council (PDRRMC) said that the Nueva Era-Abra Road has been cleared and is now passable to all types of vehicles.
 

The public is advised to thoroughly inspect their respective homes, workspaces, and other infrastructure to ensure the safety of all residents.
