CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) - -The Department of Agriculture-Special Area for Agriculture Development (DA-SAAD) provides interventions to more farmer cooperatives and associations (FCAs) in the province to increase food production and establish community enterprises.
Newly delivered machines composed of 10 units egg incubator, 11 units generator, and four units shredder were inspected last July 27 by the personnel from the DA-CAR Agriculture Engineering Division at the Agriculture Provincial Coordinating Office to ensure that the farmers will receive quality and safe machinery.
Recipient farmer representatives from Lubuagan and Pasil and provincial SAAD staff were also taught how to operate the machines properly.
In Rizal earlier this week, officers and representatives of DA-SAAD Program partner beneficiaries underwent re-orientation and strengthening of FCAs activity at the Research Outreach Station.
In Balbalan, the project site for the swine multiplier farm of the Gubang Tribe Farmers Association of Balbalan Proper was flattened. The multiplier farm enterprise will focus on the production of quality breeds of swine, and will serve as supplier in Kalinga and other Cordillera provinces.

Some SAAD beneficiaries in the province are implementing their projects successfully.
According to DA-SAAD Kalinga posts, the Calagango People's Association Inc. of Barangay San Francisco, Rizal, which was awarded with 70 does and 14 bucks under the FY 2021 Goat Production subproject has now a total of 28 kids or young goats (15 does, 13 bucks) addition to the flock.
Another SAAD beneficiary, the Matalas Farmers Association of Lay-asan, Tanudan earned Php 11,850 income on its first month of harvest from its egg production subproject. The group now supplies low-cost fresh eggs at sitios of Magtoma, Nabalinan, Tangaya, and Lonas, Lay-asan. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
