Over 700 Pangasinense agri-workers graduate from school-on-air

STA. BARBARA, Pangasinan, July 28 (PIA) – At least 722 farmers and agricultural workers from 22 municipalities and cities in Region 1 received their certificates for completing their course on organic agriculture production during the graduation ceremonies of the School-On-the-Air (SOA) program of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) held here on Tuesday.
 
Rogelio Evangelista, center director of the ATI-Regional Training Center (RTC) in Region 1, said the program, dubbed as “Oportunidad sa Agrikultura, Sagot ng Organikong Pagsasaka” is a program of ATI-RTC that aims to disseminate information and knowledge on organic agriculture production through broadcast media to help agricultural workers improve their agricultural production and help preserve the environment.
 
“The School-on-the-Air program of ATI-RTC in Ilocos Region is one way to give farmers, extension workers and youth in Region 1 the information they need to improve their knowledge in organic agriculture production,” he said.
 
Evangelista said the program, in partnership with 22 local government units, Office of Provincial Agriculture (OPAg) and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, was aired over DZRD Sonshine Radio every Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10a.m. to 11a.m. for two months.
 
During the graduation ceremony, 20 graduates namely: Grace Marie Acosta (Natividad), Romeo Manalo (Bani), Roel Maglisay (Batac City), Lenie Parayno (San Quintin) Gloria Torrano (Sinait), Ric Bautista (Bayambang), Crizalyn Peralta (Dasol), Ferdinand De Guzman (Malasiqui), Tony Ferrer (Lingayen) Leila Mendijar (Binalonan), Marvin Biado (San Fabian), Maricel Marcos (Sto. Tomas), Shirley Malapira (Badoc), Jeorge Balbaloza (Alaminos City), Diana Rose Pamplona (Pozorrubio), Flora Quilantes (Urbiztondo), Joseph Talub (Currimao), Dante Serra (San Manuel), Felicidad Dela Cruz (Basista), and Redelia Nadera (Agno) were recognized as top achievers of the on-air course program.
 
The top achievers received medals, certificates of recognition and cash prices for the first top five achievers.
 
Towns with the highest number of graduates are Sarrat, Currimao and Batac City from the province of Ilocos Norte; and Alaminos City  and Pozorrubio in Pangasinan.
 
The participants,  who are expected to help implement organic agriculture production, were from the 22 towns and cities of Pangasinan, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte.  (JCR/AMB/EMSA/PIA-Pangasinan)
