DAGUPAN CITY, July 29 (PIA) – The Provincial Government of Pangasinan sent its provincial bus on Thursday to rescue Pangasinenses in the province of Abra who want to return to the province.

Governor Ramon Guico III said the provincial government sent two provincial buses alongside provincial government staff and personnel that will provide assistance for rescue operations in the province of Abra.

“’Yon din pong dalawang bus ay ginamit upang i-evacuate natin ang ating mga ka-probinsya na nasalanta po ng lindol sa Abra na gustong umuwi at bumalik sa Pangasinan,” Guico said in an interview on Friday.

He said the Provincial Government of Pangasinan, through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), is conducting close coordination with the provinces of Abra and Ilocos Sur to assess their needs to identify what kind of relief assistance Pangasinan can send for the displaced residents of the said areas.

Based on the PDRRMO Situation Report No. 3, Pangasinan recorded minor damages to eight residential houses with only one person injured due to the 7.3 magnitude earthquake.

“Generally, ang ating mga pasilidad sa ating lalawigan ay safe and very sound ang mga istruktura. Wala pong casualty sa ating probinsya. At wala rin pong reported na famous heritage sites sa ating lalawigan na nasira dahil sa lindol,” Guico said.

“We were spared but we will not just relax, dahil sign ito na dapat tayo ay tumulong sa ating mga kababayan,” Guico added.

He also disclosed that the League of Governors of the Philippines pledged financial assistance amounting to a minimum of at least P100,000 each province to be given to the province of Abra.

Likewise, Guico advised the public to practice and participate in earthquake drills that are being conducted by the government, especially the children to educate them on safety procedures during calamities while they were still young.

He also reminded all Pangasinenses to comply with the building code and have their structures checked by licensed engineers to validate the structural soundness of their homes and buildings. (JCR/AMB/EMSA/PIA Pangasinan)
