CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) - -The Philippine National Police (PNP) Officers’ Ladies Club (OLC) Kalinga Chapter through the Police Community Affairs Office conducted a 3-day Art Orientation Workshop from July 25-27 for police personnel and their dependents.
The activity with the theme, “PanagKALINGA ti Kapulisan ti Kalinga: A Community Arts Immersion and Art Exhibit for a Cause,” aims to promote the artistic abilities of the participants and to provide avenue for the PNP personnel and their dependents to bring out their hidden talents.
The activity was also intended to motivate children to engage, appreciate, understand and communicate their imagination through art works, to create camaraderie, and to provide leisure activities for the children during their school break.
Deputy Provincial Director for Operation PLtCol Jacob Dangpason welcomed on July 25 participants and guests led by Julius Lumigued of the Pasakalye Group of Artists based in Baguio City.
PNP OLC Kalinga Chapter Adviser Joyce Tagtag introduced the other art workshop facilitators also from the Pasakalye Group namely Rochelle Bakisan, Angelica Rosalin, and Femy Lamsis.
For two days, the participants immersed themselves in art with the guidance of the artists at Camp Juan M Duyan in Bulanao, Tabuk City.
The activity was also intended to raise funds through an exhibit and auction of the art works of the participants. The proceeds would be used for the proposed Youth Summit for Tinglayan, Kalinga and Sadanga, Mountain Province purposely to promote harmony and create closer ties among the youth.
The art orientation workshop was part of the celebration of the 27th Police Community Relations Month. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
