DSWD delivers family food packs in Batanes

BASCO, Batanes (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development  (DSWD) Regional Office 2, in coordination with the Office of the  Civil Defense, prepositioned family food packs to be distributed to affected families in any emergency eventuality.

Justine Socito, provincial information officer, said 882 of the 5,000 requested food packs were already delivered to this province through the air assets of the Philippine Airforce (PAF).

He said the family food packs were requested by Governor Marilou H. Cayco to DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo in preparation for the typhoon seasons.

Some uniformed personnel assist during the delivery of the Family Food Packs from the Basco Airport to the Provincial Logistics Hub.

Socito added that food items are carefully stocked at the Logistics Hub of the province under the management of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office in partnership with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.
