August 11 declared special non-working holiday in Ilagan

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - The local chief executive of this capital city of Isabela has declared August 11, 2022 as a special non-working holiday in celebration of the city’s 10th cityhood anniversary.

City of Ilagan Mayor Josemarie L. Diaz signed Executive Order No. 016, Series of 2022 declaring the above stated date and purpose.

Diaz said in his order that Republic Act No. 10169 otherwise known as the Charter of the City of Ilagan provided for the conversion of the Municipality of Ilagan into a component city known as the City of Ilagan and was ratified by an overwhelming majority of the population in a plebiscite held on August 11, 2012.

He said that the City Government of Ilagan enacted General ordinance No. 016-2013 otherwise known as an “Ordinance Declaring August 11th of every year as an Ilagueno Special Holiday for thanksgiving and for celebrating the city charter ratification, which converted the Municipality of Ilagan into a component city on August 6, 2013.

“The celebration aims to reawaken the devotion of all Ilaguenos in the promotion of unity, dynamism, and demonstration of harmony of diverse culture, heritage and values,” Diaz said.

He added that the celebration also is an opportune time for Ilaguenos to venerate their contribution to the rapid development of the city and likewise inspire Ilaguenos to work harder towards the collective vision of a liveable City of Ilagan by 2030.

“It is but fitting and proper that Ilaguenos be given a full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies, subject to proper adherence to public safety protocols and guidelines of the national government,” he said. (JCC/MGE / PIA Isabela)
