KC council 3704 installs new Grand Knight, officers

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - - The Knights of Columbus - Bishop Jurgens Council 3704 installed a new Grand Knight (GK) and set of officers for the fraternal year 2022-2023. This was conducted before the Deputy District No. T51 Sir Knight Rolando Diwa in its 68th Installation, Induction and Empowerment of Council Officers held at the Parish Pastoral Center, St. Peter Metropolitan Cathedral in this city.

Grand Knight Pedro Mario S. Maguigad urges fellow brother Knights to continue to be protectors of the Catholic Church during the 68th Installation, Induction and Empowerment of Council Officers.

Grand Knight Pedro Mario S. Maguigad vowed to approximate his predecessor’s numerous accomplishments in the name of fraternal solidarity, charity, unity, and brotherhood.

"More than two decades that I have been actively involved as a knight in our council, I have come to believe that it is our fraternal strength that is distinctly the bulwark of the Knights of Columbus in our faith community," Sir Night Maguigad said in his inaugural address.

He stated that there is something else we require, but we must remember that Blessed Michael Mcgivney's vision and enthusiasm were to transform our friends into brothers who come to one another, and that we live in a fraternal community.

"When we invite a man to join the Knights of Columbus, we are not primarily inviting him to do something, we are inviting to be someone. We are inviting him to be a man of faith, a man of charity, and a man of unity in the spirit of solidarity," the newly-installed GK Maguigad said.

He emphasized that this year's empowerment theme, "Strong Brotherhood, Journeying Together in Faith and Action," should serve as a mission statement for Knights of Columbus brothers as they grow in their faith, continue the works in solidary, mutual respect, and love to strengthen the fraternal bond through charitable work.

"As we move forward to years to come, to my fellow officers, it is truly an honor, not a privilege, to have been chosen as servant leader, to carry out a mandate before us. It is a challenging mission, but with you, I’m confident and I believe this challenge, as we continue to journey together, we can," Sir Knight Maguigad said.

The newly-installed elected and appointed officers of the Knights of Columbus Bishop Jurgens Council 3704 for the fraternal year 2022-2023.

Other officers installed are SK Manolo A. Sanchez, Deputy Grand Knight; SK Claudio Luis P. Calubaquib, Chancellor; SK Gregorio P. Soriano, Financial Secretary; Bro. Alvin C. delos Santos, Recorder; Bro. Edwin Calubaquib, Warden; Bro. Vicente A. Hipolito Jr., Treasurer; SK Franklin L. Mabborang, Lecturer; SK Tito P. Versola, SK Ronald T. De Polonia, and SK Virgilio M. Acasili, Trustees for 1st, 2nd and 3rd year, respectively; SK Edwin G. Castillo, Advocate; and Inside and Outside Guards SK Rafael D. Iloy, SK Julio P. Pagulayan, SK Benjamin G. Narag, SK Roberto C. Cabanero.

The appointed officers swear to office before GK Pedro Maguigad.

Meanwhile, in his empowerment ceremony, Rev. Bernard B. Corpuz, Parish Priest/Chaplain, stated that he expects KC to defend the church against all odds and to uphold Blessed Michael Mcgiveney's teachings through the four KC values of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism.

He said that charity is not only material giving but also an affirmation to others as brotherhood. Unity is united in one faith to gain strength in the pursuit of charity, fraternity is Christian brotherhood, and patriotism is the love of God and love of country. (JCC/ADS/PIA Region 2)
