PUERTO PRINCESA, PALAWAN, (PIA)--The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Mimaropa holds Orientation Course: Primed Leaders for Renewed Local Governance in Hotel Centro, Puerto Princesa City on August 10-12, 2022 for the re-elected Mayors in the region.

The program aimed to enhance the competencies of the newly elected officials to operationalize their vision and agenda to improve service delivery and organizational performance.

The three-day seminar focused on different components such as ensuring a smooth transition, jumpstarting local governance, creating the roadmap for LGU development, enhancing the competencies of LGU officials and staff, and performance-based incentivization.

DILG Mimaropa Regional Director Wilhelm Suyko said that the activity is also a continuing capacity building of the elected officials and through the seminar, they will learn from the experiences of their fellow local executives.

He said that the department also coached the participants on how to comply with the '100 days in office' checklist,  which is one of the bases of the DILG to give a Seal of Good Local Governance award to an LGU.

The invited  speakers were from DILG main office and other national government agencies, who discussed government devolution, disaster resiliency, and many other topics. The 27 participants are Mayors from Marinduque, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon and Palawan. (MCE/PIA MIMAROPA)
