DPWH completes road projects in Capiz towns

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Capiz 1st District Engineering Office has completed the P48.9 - million road widening project of the Maayon Junction Bailan Road in Maayon town.

The project involved road widening from two to four lanes of 1.3-kilometer  highway based on a news release posted on DPWH regional office social media page.

“The widened road enhances mobility in the towns of Maayon, Pontevedra and Panit-an, accommodating more vehicles and providing safer and faster transportation,” said DPWH 6 director Nerie D. Bueno.

She  added that the construction has also been completed for the Maayon By-pass Road in the municipality.

The ₱37.5-million project involves construction of concrete road with the length of 1.22 kilometers and drainage with the length of 1,620 lineal meters.

The by-pass road decongests traffic in the main thoroughfare in the towns of Cuartero, Maayon and Bailan. It also provides motorists  with alternate route to shorten travel time and decongest traffic in the main thoroughfare.

“With this by-pass road, travelers and motorists will have alternate and faster route to various communities in the town of Maayon. This could also open opportunities for various economic activities in the area that could improve the quality of life of the people in the
locality,” Bueno stressed.

The DPWH has also paved the access road in Brgy. Tabun-acan in Pilar town which made the route more convenient and accessible to the majestic 42-feet Hinulugan Falls of the town.

The ₱39.8-million road concreting, a convergence project of DPWH and the Department of Tourism (DOT), involved concreting of 2-lane road with the length of 1.7 kilometers.

“This paved road could attract more tourists to visit Hinulugan Falls, promoting tourism development in the province. This will also give the locals a chance to market their products that could help improved their economic condition,” Bueno noted. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz/DPWH 6 FB)
