DSWD 2 extends help to flood-affected families in Isabela

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - -  The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)  region 2 has extended immediate assistance to the flood-affected families in the towns of Aurora and San Manuel, this province.

Regional Director Cesario Joel Espejo personally handed the family food packs and P3,000 cash assistance to the identified beneficiaries through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.

The residents in the towns' low-lying areas experienced flooding following the excessive rainfall on the evening of August 13, 2022.

Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PDRRM) Officer  Atty. Constante Foronda said more than 5,000 families in the said towns were affected. 

The PDRRM office of Isabela is currently conducting further assesment of the extent of damage brought by the calamity.

Meanwhile, National Irrigation Administration (NIA) - Magat River Integrated Irrigation System Division Manager Gileu Michael Dimoloy clarified that the flooding was not caused by a water release from the Magat Dam. (OTB/MGE/PIA Isabela)
