ILOILO CITY (PIA) -- Senator Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go has commended the initiative to redevelop the Iloilo City's public markets.
"I commend the recent initiative to redevelop two of Iloilo City’s public markets – the Iloilo Terminal Market and Central Public Market – through a public-private partnership between the city government and the SM Prime Holding Inc. (SMPI)," Senator Go said.
In a media release, the Senator said "By redeveloping said markets to be cleaner, more spacious and more accessible, I am hopeful that this will help revitalize micro, small and medium enterprises in the area and open the doors to more job and livelihood opportunities for the locals, leading to the economic development of the community."
"We have always been supportive of initiatives such as this to improve local infrastructures and enhance the quality of life of Filipinos, especially those living in the provinces," he added.
He stressed the need to strengthen the ties and cooperation between the government and the private sector in the quest towards economic recovery.
"Now, more than ever, we need to further strengthen the cooperation between the government and the private sector to ensure that no Filipino is left behind in our path towards recovery," Senator Go said.
Recently, Senator Go, together with Senator Robinhood Padilla, was in Iloilo, particuarly in San Joaquin and Guimbal towns, to lead the distribution of the government's Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) to identified beneficiaries and the ground breaking of the proposed Super Health Center, respectively.
