In Kiangan, Mayor Raldis Andrei Bulayungan convened the Local School Board to discuss the protocols and approaches of the different schools in the municipality for the students.
Among the concerns are the safety of students against COVID-19, the safety of buildings after the July 27 magnitude 7 earthquake that rocked Northern Luzon, the risks of vehicular traffic accidents, inspection of boarding houses for the safety of students, curfew hours, drinking pubs near schools, .and the ongoing process of procurement of materials from the Special Education Funds and the Aid to BE 2022.
The mayor also conducted a meeting with all the tricycle drivers in the municipality to discuss the New Approved Fare Matrix including observance of the 20 percent discount for students, senior citizens, and persons with disability, and road safety protocols including warning signs and pedestrian lanes, among others.
Meanwhile, Department of Education -Cordillera (DepEd-CAR) Regional Director Estela Cariño announced the prohibition of solicitation activities for the BE.
“I would like to reiterate that Brigada Eskwela calls for voluntary help done through free labor, in kind, and/or monetary donation. Please stop soliciting, specifically letting teachers solicit personally or through their personal social media account,” said Cariño.
As of August 9, 2022, Ifugao has recorded a total of 18,900 enrollees for elementary; 10, 232 enrollees for Junior High School, and 3,800 for Senior HS in public and private schools for School Year 2022-2023.
The number is expected to rise as enrollment will continue until August 22, but late enrollees will still be accepted until further notice from the DepEd Central office. (JDP/FBR-PIA CAR, Ifugao)
