'Illegal drugs have no place in Zamboanga City,' says LGU chief

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Aug 17 (PIA) -- The new administration headed by City Mayor John M. Dalipe commits to be a strong advocate of anti-illegal drugs here.

This month (August 2022), series of drug-buy bust operations were conducted that yielded the capture of some illegal drug personalities in the city.

“Ase yo claro na todo, ese droga prohibido, nohay se lugar na di amon ciudad,” Mayor Dalipe affirmed.

Recently, the mayor personally joined the interception of illegal drugs together with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-9 with other member agencies at Zamboanga City Airport.

The team intercepted a baggage containing 500 grams of alleged illegal drugs worth P3.4-million, which is believed to be “Shabu” from Maluso, Basilan with the identified sender named Farhana Maddi and Dayana Ismael as consignee, and was set for shipment to Commonwealth, Quezon City.

Moreover, 300k worth of “Shabu” with an estimated weight of more or less 50 grams inside a sealed transparent plastic bag, was also seized along Tugbungan road in the city.

Meanwhile, the city mayor lauded PDEA-9 team and collaborating agencies for their latest and successful achievements as he affirmed that the city government would continue to support the intensified anti-drug campaign.

The local chief also warned the drug personalities to now surrender as well as assured that they will be seriously sanctioned accordingly.
