BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - - Officials of the Department of Education (DepEd) here has assured the public that their school facilities have been sanitized to prevent dengue infection among schoolers.

Dr. Rachel Llana, Schools Division superintendent, said aside from their COVID-19 Infection Containment Strategy and Plan (COVID-19 ICSP), they have also conducted massive clean-up drives among various schools in the province.

“These clean-up drives which were started early this year in preparation for the Face to Face Classes have been successful in destroying the breeding areas of dengue-carrying mosquitoes inside classrooms and outside,” she said.

Llana said bright colors have been used in painting dark areas of classrooms and other school facilities to repel and discourage  mosquitoes from thriving in these areas.

She said dengue prevention measures are also included in their orientation among schoolers.

“Everything in the classroom that are not used has been taken out to pave the way for more spaces and sanitation for our schoolers,” Llana said.

Julius Panganiban, DepEd nurse, said the  OPLAN Balik Eskwela also brought in monitoring teams to check the possible breeding places for dengue – carrying mosquitoes and clean them up.

“There were unnecessary things that have been taken out because they contribute as breeding grounds of mosquitoes,” he said. (OTB/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
