DTI monitors prices, supply of basic commodities

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - Isabela has monitored the prices and supply of basic and prime commodities in some markets in the province.

The monitoring was conducted on the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm 'Florita' led by Provincial Director Ma. Sofia Narag and Consumer Protection Division Chief Elmer Agorto, particularly in this city.

Narag said the monitoring activity aims to ensure that the prices of basic and prime commodities in the market are based on the released Suggested Retail Prices and that there will be no overpricing at the height of the weather disturbance.

"The supermarkets and even retailers of goods and commodities are compliant to the DTI’s suggested retail prices. There are no violators found on the implementation of SRP," Narag said.

She said that on the supply side of the basic and prime commodities, there are enough supplies of the said commodities and no shortage observed in the market.

The team also visited the cities of Cauayan and Santiago and some towns in the province to ensure that business establishments are complying to the SRP and the supply is sufficient. (OTB/MGE/PIA Isabela)
