CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--Cascading the programs and services for the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their dependents, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA)-10 together with the Job Placement Bureau-Public Employment Services Office (JPB-PESO) CDO, conducted the Forum Consultation and Capability Building for the 80 barangays, here, August 23.
Attended by the barangay employment assistance desk officers and PESO, the event targets to involve the barangays here noting that Cagayan de Oro City is one of the areas nationwide with a great number of OFWs.
“Preparation na pud nia sa among gipasa nga ordinance nga sulod sa Local Laborization Code nga mag-create ug BEAD ( Barangay Employment Assistance Desk) wherein naa na pud dayon Barangay PeSO sa matag barangay,” CDO JPB-PESO Manager Kathleen Kate Sorilla said.
(This is also in preparation for the ordinance that we have submitted under the Local Laborization Code nga mag-create ug BEAD ( Barangay Employment Assistance Desk) where we are targeting to have a Barangay PESO in every barangay)
Extending appreciation to OWWA-10, Sorilla said they tapped the agency as they saw the need to equip personnel, particularly in boosting employment in the city.
Chairman on Committee of Labor and Employment Councilor Girlie Balaba, Councilor Imee Moreno, Department of Labor and Employment CDO Field Office Chief Emmanuel Toledo, OWWA-10 Regional Director Harry B. Borres, Mary Damsing Palisbo of OWWA-NRCO, Eugene Mesias and Richie James Uy graced the said event. (RTP/PIA-10)
