BAGUIO CITY (PIA) -- The Baguio Central School welcomed more than 3,000 pupils during the opening of classes last Monday, August 22.
School Principal Dr. Esther Litilit welcomed the pupils from kindergarten to grade 6 who will be attending the face-to-face classes at Baguio’s oldest public elementary school, for the first time in two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
She thanked the parents for bringing their children to attend face-to-face classes amidst the pandemic. She assured them that they will take care of their children once they are in school.
During the flag raising program, School Nurse Juliet Ursabia reminded the learners of the health and safety protocols on the COVID-19 when attending the face-to-face classes such as strict and proper wearing of facemask at all times in school.

DepEd Baguio District Supervisor Lourdes Lomas-e thanked the parents and students for showing excitement for the face-to-face classes.
She stressed to the parents not to allow their children to go to school when they have symptoms of COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms to prevent the possible infection of other students.
With the rising cases of dengue, Ursabia reminded that one way of preventing dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases is by wearing long sleeves and long pants, aside from maintaining clean surroundings.
Patrolwoman Aljira Quino of the Baguio City Police Station – Abanao Police Station provided safety and security tips to the pupils. She stressed that policemen and women are “friends” which people can reach out for any needed assistance.

As of August 22, 2022, Lilitlit said BCS recorded more than 3,178 total enrollees for the new school year but are expecting more since there were at least 3,400 pupils enrolled last year in the blended learning scheme.
