DPWH completes flood control projects in La Union town

SAN FERNANDO CITY (PIA) – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) La Union First District Engineering Office recently completed two flood control structures along Amburayan River in Bangar, La Union.

According to Esperanza Tinaza, regional information officer of the DPWH, the first project worth Php49 million was the construction of a 409-meter long and 5-meter high concrete dike and revetment along the riverbank of Barangay Mindoro.

Two other barangays of said town, Barangays Consuegra and Alzate, are also benefitted with the completed 403-linear meter concrete dike. The concrete dike, with project cost Php 48,997,343.62, will prevent erosion of riverbank and water overflow.

“These infrastructure projects were built to protect the locals living close to the river by suppressing the high water level of Amburayan River,” Tinaza said.

The two flood control structures were both funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2022. (JCR/JND, PIA La Union)
