KIANGAN, Ifugao  - - The  Department of Trade and Industry in partnership with the Local Government Unit  is holding  a  “Diskwento Caravan”   at the  War Memorial Shrine  here as  a pre- activity  of the  77th  Victory Day.

Said event that offers discounted prices of basic commodities runs from August 31 to September 2.  

The   Victory Day  celebration  on Sept.  2  with the theme “Enduring Peace: Engine for Health and Economic Recovery,”  will  feature  a parade, wreath laying ceremonies and a program with Senator Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go as guest speaker.  

The Victory Day commemorates the day of surrender of Japanese Imperial Army Commander Tomoyuki Yamashita, also known as the “Tiger of Malaya”, on September 2, 1945 to the joint Filipino and American Troops led by Captain Grisham of the 6th United States Army at their garrison at the Old Home Economics Building of the Kiangan Central School here,  finally ending  World War II.
