CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)—To help consumers in Cagayan de Oro City in taking full advantage of discounted prices on basic and prime commodities, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Misamis Oriental, in partnership with the Local Government of Cagayan de Oro, launched a four-day Diskwento caravan from August 25 until the 28th as part of the Higalaay Festival celebration.
Almer Masillones, DTI Misamis Oriental provincial director said the ‘Diskwento’ provides reasonably-priced quality products to the consuming public.
“Tumong sa Diskwento caravan nga maka-avail ug makapahimulos ang atong mga consumers sa mga discounted prices sa mga basic ug prime commodities. Sa pagkakaron, nag-range sa 5 to 60 percent discount ang mga baligya diri sa city hall. (The program aims to give consumers an access to prime commodities at a reduced cost. The price discount of products being sold here at the city hall range from 5% to 60%),” Masillones said.
She said that the DTI’s Diskwento is originally a program of RTWPB (Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board) which gives non-monetary incentives to minimum wage earners as a way for the workers to benefit from the discounted prices of basic commodities.
The four-day event, he said, offered discounts on grocery items, frozen meat products, school supplies, and bags, among other items displayed by 27 participating manufacturers and retailers.
City Councilor George Goking appreciates the entrepreneurs for working together to help the Kagay-anons during these tough times when the cost of all prime necessities is rising. (JAKA/PIA 10)
