BAGUIO CITY (PIA) -- The Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) is set to conduct a Monitoring and Evaluation Forum in the fourth quarter of the year to further strengthen the functionality of Local Project Monitoring Committees (LPMCs) in the region.
This will also be an avenue for the rollout of the Regional Project Monitoring Evaluation System, the RPMC secretariat said during a meeting in September 2. It will also cover the RPMC Alert Mechanism which is a tool that enables the RPMC to identify projects experiencing delays and alert the concerned agencies for timely interventions.
National Economic and Development Authority - Cordillera Assistant Regional Director Stephanie Chistiansen suggested than an hour of the forum will be allotted for the local chief executives only to enable them to further strengthen the functionality of their LPMCs.
Also presented during the meeting is the report on flagged down projects in the region and updates on the Support to Barangay Development Projects.
The committee also selected three RPMC private sector representatives.
The RPMC has scheduled inspection of the BLISTT Outer Ring Circumferential Road in the last week of this month. Three delayed projects in Apayao will also be inspected on the fourth quarter, along with some projects in Kalinga.
Meanwhile, the secretariat is tasked to come up with a concept paper on how to commend contractors with outstanding performance. This is to encourage contractors to further enhance or improve the projects they are working on.
"That will give them plus points when they bid for other projects," said Christiansen.
The RPMC, as the monitoring arm of the RDC, is responsible for evaluating priority programs and projects in the region, particularly those encountering challenges in implementation as well as projects worthy of replication. (JDP/DEG-PIA CAR)
