DSWD 6 lauds LGUs, stakeholders for AICS payout

ILOILO CITY (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 6 commended and expressed gratitude to the local government units in Western Visayas that served as host sites for the educational assistance payout.

“This only shows genuine concern to the public, even if that meant opening yourselves to an added responsibility of safekeeping your neighbor's people,” the agency said in a Facebook post.

“Nagadayaw man kami sa mga LGUs nga nagbulig inform sa mga clients, naghatag salakyan para indi mabudlayan ang ila constituents, kag nag-augment sa amon workforce (We laud the LGUs for helping inform the clients, providing vehicles for their constituents, and augmenting our workforce),” DSWD-6 said.

Meanwhile, records from the agency showed that some 27, 280 students in the region were recipients of the financial assistance amounting to a sum of P76,561,000 for the period of August 20, 27, and September 3.

Of the students’ figure, 6,277 were elementary, 5,106 were high school, 3,516 were senior high school, and 12, 381 were college.

Iloilo City and province, on the other hand, logged the highest number of beneficiaries as 9,135 students got the educational aid totaling P27,326,000.

The educational assistance is under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), which is a social safety net that supports the recovery of individuals and families from unexpected crises such as illness or death of a family member, and other crisis situations.

Under the program, qualified elementary students can avail of P1,000; high school, P2,000; senior high school, P3,000; and P4,000 for
