CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) - - A whole- of- government tree planting  to gear up the drive to actively involve all stakeholders in the conduct and establishment of regreening projects, and maintenance and protection activities will kick off in the  province  in September 13.

The simultaneous launching of the provincewide tree planting is hosted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

 
Provincial DILG Director Anthony Manolo Ballug said the tree planting campaign with the theme “Buhayin ang Pangangalaga ng Kalikasan,” aims to involve the local government units and communities.  

There shall be at least one planting site per province and municipality for the provincewide kick-off ceremony, and Callagdao was selected as the planting site in Kalinga, Ballug said.

The DENR through its Community ENROs and   Provincial ENRO nurseries shall provide  the planting  materials.  

 
DILG shall likewise issue a memorandum circular to the LGUs regarding the care, maintenance and protection of the planted sites.

DENR for its part shall provide planting materials for mortalities and the continuance of post tree-planting activities to increase survival and sustainability of the seedlings and saplings planted. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
