DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Sept. 8 (PIA) -- To speed up the country’s digital transformation, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has offered free DigitalJobsPH training to Perpetual Help Community Cooperative Inc. (PHCCI) here.
The DICT in partnership with Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) has opened the opportunity to 31 member-scholars of PHCCI to prosper ICT-enabled livelihood opportunities for increased participation in the digital economy.
DICT-7 Project Development Officer II Angelito Geverola said the project is under the ICT Literacy and Competency Development that aims to enhance the capability and competency of Filipinos in the field of ICT which is becoming one of the biggest earners in the country’s economy.
“This is one of the first projects of its kind with cooperative in terms of DICT partnering with the private entity as we expand ICT knowledge with technical skills trainings and build up capability of the people to go into ICT field,” said Geverola.
The said scholars will undergo a face-to-face training on Social Media Marketing and Advertising Course for 12 days and practical exercises.
During the training, the PHCCI would provide free meals, materials, and free use of laptops for 31 trainees.
PHCCI Board of Director President Romulo Amarado said this project is part of the cooperatives’ social and economic responsibility to assist its member-owners.
The cooperative may extend loan to scholars after the training for them to acquire some tools to start their own online business.
CDA Usec. Joseph Encabo said the success of this program will also give way for DICT to expand it to the rest of cooperative movement around the country to benefit the 11million active cooperative members in the Philippines.
Encabo told the trainees that “you can now be employed in a foreign corporation provide them with your services and earn at the comfort in your home through the freelance industry.”
The DICT is currently implementing various digital transformation programs to help the country better adapt to the new normal. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
