2,500 vacancies for Tourism Job Fair in Davao

DAVAO CITY - The coming Davao leg of the Philippine Tourism Job Fair will have more than 2,500 job vacancies.

The Davao City leg of the  Trabaho Turismo Asenso Philippine Tourism Job Fair will be held on September 22 to 23 at the Abreeza Ayala Mall. The national jobs fair focusing on the tourism industry will also be conducted in Manila (Sept. 22-24) and Cebu (Sept. 22-23).

The jobs fair is organized by the Department of Labor and Employment and the Department of Tourism. In the Davao fair, DOLE and DOT is partnering with the Davao Tourism Association (DATA) an organization comprising of the different private tourism companies in the city.

“From data we have gathered it is good to note that we 2,510 job vacancies for the job fair,” Department of Labor and Employment- Regional Director Randolf Pensoy said his recent guesting at the Mindanao Development Authority’s Habi at Kape weekly Media Forum held at the Habi at Kape Coffee Shop in Abreeza Mall, Davao City.

Reg Dir. Pensoy is hoping that thousands will be hired on the spot during the jobs fair. “We hope the employers will answer the call. As we respond to the need and the call of the times, we hope that a good number maybe thousands will be hired on the spot,” the top labor official in the region said.

According to DOT-XI the initial target for vacancies in the fair is around 1,000 jobs.

“We are targeting 1,000 job applicants then na-mention ni RD (DOLE Regional Dir. Pensoy) na meron na tayong 2,510 job vacancies hoping we can get a good percentage of those hired on the spot,” DOT-XI Regional Director Tanya Rabat-Tan said.

According to the  RD Rabat-Tan the tourism jobs fair is a response to call of President Bongbong Marcos in creating employment opportunities for the tourism sector

“It is basically a venue for creating livelihood or job opportunities for job seekers in the tourism sector,” RD Rabat-Tan said.

DATA president Cherry Faye Banquil Al-ag said that there are many employment opportunities in the tourism sector particularly the hotels and accommodations industry.

“The tourism sector has witnessed the growth of activities.  We have heard from some of our members that they are lacking in employees, they are looking for more talents because there are now more activities in their respective establishments,” Al-ag said.

Aside from jobs, several government agencies such as the National Bureau of Investigation, the Social Security System and the Philhealth will be offering their services at the job fair.

There will be a pre-registration that will be done online or face-to-face on September 21. For those preferring for a face to face preregistration it will be on September 21, 2022, 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.  at the Corporate Building of Ayala Malls Abreeza. DATA president  Cherry Faye Al-ag is urging those looking for jobs to seek their opportunities at the tourism jobs fair this September 22-23.
