CONNER, Apayao (PIA) – The municipalities of Luna, Pudtol and this town vie for this year’s Seal of Good Local Governance from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) after passing the regional level assessment.

Joan-Ana J. Dumalsin, Conner Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO), said qualifiers to the annual performance award need to comply with the 10-point validation criteria.

Among the criteria include transparency and accountability in use of public funds, disaster preparedness, social programs especially for the vulnerable, promote ease of doing business, peace and order, environmental protection and youth development.

Provincial LGOO Max Mayer Adong encouraged other LGUs in the province to aim for the award which pushes performance in local governance.

Renalyn D. Iglesias, head of the National Validation Team, said the search gives LGUs exemplary distinction across their governance areas.

Winners in the search receive incentives in the form of projects for their respective areas.

Meanwhile, Conner Municipal Mayor Jorico F. Bayaua rallied the various sectors to continue delivering quality government service to the people.

‘We do this because this is due our constituents, while the award comes in recognition of our government service,’ Bayaua stressed. (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
