CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga(PIA) - - The Department of Agrarian Reform in the province continues to support agrarian reform beneficiary organizations(ARBOs) in the province by capacitating them or providing them tools, equipment and other agricultural inputs to help boost their livelihood activities.
In Lubuagan where green vegetables and squash are readily available, DAR Kalinga trained members of the Mabilong Farmers and Weavers Association and the Changoy Beaders Association on vegetable noodle making and squash chips production under Product Development program for ARBOS.
In Tabuk City, DAR provided a mini tiller, brush cutter, spray can and gardening tools to Daram-Cudal MPC in support to the implementation of their banana production in Cudal under its Climate Resilience Farm Productivity Support Project.
Prior the delivery of the farm tools, members of the cooperative were trained on good agricultural practices.
In Balawag, this city, 112 heads of Peking ducks consisting of ready-to-lay 92 hens and 20 drakes were inspected and delivered to the Botigue Farmers Association, Inc. The project aims to provide sustainable livelihood in support to disaster-affected areas.
Program Coordinator Adeline Basiag said the ARBO cooperated well in the preparation of the housing and water source.
“Masapul agballigi daytoy nga project tapno saan nga masayang ti kuarta ti gobyerno"(This project must succeed so that government fund would not be wasted), said Nestor Daluson, the association president.
DAR conducts regular monitoring and inspection of ARBO livelihood projects to ensure their sustainability and the survival of animal dispersals. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
