PROCOR sets 5 minute- response time for police assistance

BAGUIO CITY (PIA) -- The leadership of the Police Regional Office - Cordillera (PROCOR) has set five  minutes response time for any call for police assistance particularly in urban areas.

"Kung may manghihingi ng police assistance, dapat 'yung pulis is nandoon na sa area, kung kaya, not more than five minutes. Sinet natin itong five minutes kasi medyo mabilis ito tapos baka maabutan pa 'yung suspect dun sa area at tsaka matulungan pa 'yung biktima," PROCOR Regional Director PBGen. Mafelino Bazar said during the Regional Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee 3rd Quarter Meeting recently.

He bared that they have been conducting regular simulation exercises to test how fast the police personnel can respond to a certain incident, and they settled  for  the  five minutes response time.

"Pinapadeploy na natin 'yung mga pulis natin, pati 'yung mga office personnel sa labas. Strategically, 'yung coverage nila ay dapat not more than five minutes 'yung pinakamalayo na area nila," Bazar said.

He also directed the police personnel in the region to distribute calling cards to the public as they get the mobile number of willing residents for wider coverage of information dissemination by  the PNP.

To further strengthen crime prevention, the PROCOR is  conducting trainings on preservation of crime scene, citizen's arrest, among others for barangay tanods. This is to capacitate them to be effective force multipliers of the PNP. Bazar mentioned that every municipal police station is  directed to train 50 tanods per week.

Also, in coordination with Department of Public Wprks and Highways, Land Transportation Office, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, and other agencies,   they have been conducting intensified operations to clear the roads/highways from obstruction.

Bazar  earlier said that PROCOR will continue to implement road clearing operations to prevent accidents and to address the complaints of some residents regarding illegal parking and obstructions along the highways. (JDP/DEG-PIA CAR)
