SAN FERNANDO CITY (PIA) – Pag-IBIG Fund’s new head is a proud Ilocana.
On Monday, Marilene Acosta has been appointed as the new acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the state-run Home Mutual Development Fund which is also known as Pag-IBIG Fund.
Acosta, who hails from Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, is a certified public accountant and career public servant who has been with the country's leading home financing agency for 41 years.
She is married to Manuel Acosta, a farmer-entrepreneur from San Fernando City, La Union, with whom she has two sons, Julius Patrick, a lawyer, and Jan Paul, a 3D Artist.
They own Ibit’s Farm located in Barangay Masicong in this city and Ibit’s Farm Beach Resort in Barangay Baroro, Bacnotan. Both farms are named after the new CEO whose nickname is Ibit.
We are very happy po and proud as a family. Witness po kami sa mga pinagdaanan niya at buhay niya sa Pag-IBIG Fund. She deserves the promotion,” Manuel said.
The newly-appointed CEO rose from the ranks, beginning as an accounting clerk in Pag-IBIG Fund’s Baguio Regional Office.
“My more than 40 years of public service in Pag-IBIG Fund has prepared me well for this post, and I will put to best use all that I have learned during the past four decades in ensuring that we continue the fulfilment of our mandates and in providing Tapat na Serbisyo, Mula sa Puso,” Acosta said.
Rachael Gallano, supervising marketing specialist of Pag-IBIG La Union, rejoices with the new feat of Acosta.
“She is another pride of the Ilocanos like PBBM – pride of Ilocos Sur and La Union. She is my very first boss in Pag-IBIG Fund. She was the Regional Manager then. I can say, she's one of the best bosses I've had. I learned a lot from her. When she calls you to her office either to let you do something, correct or comment on your work, you get out of her office with new insights to inspire you to work at your best,” Gallano said.
Acosta succeeded Acmad Rizaldy Moti who is also supportive of Acosta’s appointment.
“Her appointment shall allow the continuity and sustainability of Pag-IBIG Fund’s efforts to uplift the lives of all Filipino workers,” Moti, the outgoing Pag-IBIG Fund CEO, said. (JCR/JPD, PIA La Union)
