1,000 seedlings planted in Mt. Province in tree planting activity

BONTOC, Mountain Province (PIA)--In support to the greening program of the government, more than 1,000 seedlings were planted in four sites in the province   during the simultaneous tree planting activity recently.  


Participants from national line agencies, non-government organizations and the local government of Mountain Province joined in the September 13 nationwide simultaneous tree planting activity spearheaded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government in partnership with the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources


In  Dantay, Alab Proper, Bontoc,  they  were able to plant a total of 610 seedlings of which  260 were bamboo cuttings, 170  pine seedlings, 130  Dita  or commonly known as Dalipawen, 30 Bugnay  and 20 pomelo seedlings.


DENR provided 500 seedlings while 110 seedlings were provided by the Bontoc LGU. The Provincial Government also helped in the hauling of seedlings, and transportation and provision of food packs for the participants.

In Losad and Indakling, Poblacion, Sabangan, 155 pine trees was planted by members of Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT) Sabangan, Bauko, and Bontoc Chapters, barangay officials, Sabangan Municipal Police Station, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company and personnel from Community Environment & Natural Resources Office -Sabangan.


 CENRO-Paracelis also provided 817 seedlings that included 240 Narra, 240 Rain tree, 240 Tuai, and 100 Bamboo propagules planted in Mabarotbot, Bantay, Paracelis.
