He mentioned that at the Center Home for Girls, three to four of the residents are non Cordillerans and most are from Visayas and Bicol Region.
"We have to address the issue. Hindi pala Cordillerans 'yung nasa centers natin but rather, these are trafficked young girls. They were lured to work as kasambahay sa kanilang relative, magtrabaho sa restaurants and at the end, nagkaroon ng abuse, kaya referred sila sa centers," Quintilla disclosed.
Needs of these victims/survivors are being addressed both psychologically and emotionally as part of their rehabilitation before their reintegration in their communities, he added.
Quintilla stressed that the concerned committees and the local government units must look into policies and guidelines on how to respond to these issues including trafficking, violence and other related issues on women and children.
During the joint meeting, some resolutions and policy recommendations were also discussed and approved to further address such concerns in the region.
Likewise, members of the committees approved the RSCWC and RJJWC joint resolution endorsing four child representatives to be official members of the committees and they will take their oath in the 4th quarter meeting.
