DA brings seed companies' exhibit in Ilocos Norte

LAOAG CITY (PIA) – In support of farmers, the Department of Agriculture (DA) Region 1 brings partner seed companies closer to farmers during the Hybrid Rice Cluster Technology Forum in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.
 
A total of 11 private seed companies, Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), Philippine-Sino Center for Agriculture Technology (PhilSCAT), and DA Region 1 put up exhibits to showcase their seed products, fertilizers, technologies, and other services to the farmer participants.

Vida Cacal, chief of Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Information Section (RAFIS), said that exhibits are their way of informing the farmers on the best products or technologies to use for hybrid rice varieties.
 
“As part of the promotion of hybrid rice varieties, ipinakita ng mga partner seed companies natin sa mga farmers sa demonstration area ang mga standing crops nila at ipinaalam ang mga uses at management ng mga produkto nila,” Cacal said.

The RAFIS chief added that it is important for the farmers, especially those who are not that familiar with the management of hybrid rice varieties, to know the proper management and the best products to use for their crops to ensure good crop yield.
 
“Nag-put up din ang Agri-Business and Marketing Assistance Division ng DA Region 1 upang mag-provide ng assistance sa mga farmers in the marketing sector. So nag-discuss sila kung paano ang magandang pag-market ng mga crops para maibenta ito,” Cacal also said.
