LAOAG CITY (PIA) – The Department of Health (DOH) Ilocos granted the City Government of Laoag a P19.8 million to be used for the implementation of Medical Assistance for Indigent Patients (MAIP) program.
The financial grant will be utilized by the Laoag City General Hospital (LCGH).
MAIP program aims to provide financial support to indigent and poor patients seeking medical examination, consultation, treatment, rehabilitation, and those confined in government-run hospitals.
According to Dr. Paula Paz Sydiongco, regional director of DOH Ilocos, the fund was granted through their partnership and coordination with Ilocos Norte First District Representative Sandro Marcos.
“It’s for the medical assistance of indigent patients of Laoag City, gaya na lang ng kanilang mga medical bills. Mayroon kaming memorandum of agreement with LCGH. ‘Yong indigent patients, kapag na hospitalize sila, they can inform the DOH as well as the Office of the Congressman para mabigyan sila ng assistance,” Sydiongco said.
Laoag City Mayor Michael Marcos Keon expressed his gratitude to both parties for the financial grant which he says will be a great assistance to the people of the city.
