'Paglaum Rise' breaks ground in Roxas City

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) -- Department Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Sec. Jose Rizalino Acuzar and Roxas City mayor Ronnie Dadivas led the groundbreaking ceremony, Sept. 30, in Barangay VII, here for the urban informal settlers housing project.

DHSUD Sec. Jose Rizalino Acuzar says that the Marcos administration's housing project for the urban informal settlers targets to attain a zero ISF in the country by 2028.

The project dubbed "Paglaum Rise" aims to provide the informal settlers with an affordable, decent and secure housing units in view of the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Program of the Marcos administration.

"This is now our opportunity to have a community which we can say God's gift to us," said DHSUD czar Acuzar, acknowledging the help of the Roxas City government and the Viterbo and Hernandez families who donated the lots for the project.

The "Paglaum Rise" will feature nine mid-vertical-rise buildings in the location where the urban informal settlers are currently living.

"Thank you President BBM for this gift of dignified living, hope and better future, comfort and inclusiveness," said mayor Dadivas in his message during the ceremony.

Upon completion, the project will provide condo-type housing units to the beneficiaries.

A unique feature of the project is its open park spaces that they can use for activities aside from a dignified living space.

Earlier, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered the DHSUD to solve the country’s housing backlog by providing a safe, decent and sustainable shelter to 6.5 million families in six years to attain the zero informal settler families (ISF) by 2028.

Aside from Roxas City, the Pambansang Pabahay groundbreaking events for the Visayas were also held, Sept. 30, in Brgy. Vista Alegre in Bacolod City and in Uswag Village  in San Isidro, Jaro, Iloilo City. (AAL/PIA Capiz)
