SAN FERNANDO CITY (PIA) – The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), together with the Department of Tourism (DOT)-Region 1, graced the launching of the La Union Pasalubong Hub by Mimosa at the Poro village here on September 24.
The pasalubong hub, which serves as a market platform for the micro, small and medium enterprises, aims to develop and promote products or services rooted in the local culture of the province.
Joanna Guerrero, one of the owners of the pasalubong hub, said their target is to have an exchange of products from one province to another and tourists will have a one-stop-shop where they could easily buy locally made goods.
“This privately owned hub has various products, like buybuy ng Burgos, suka from Luna, inabel from Bangar, baskets from Sudipen, locally made T-shirts ng mga local suppliers po from our province, wine from Bauang, at products from the other local government units (LGUs),” said Guerrero.
In addition, she said their hub does not intend to compete with the government pasalubong center but to partner with them towards one vision.
“Ang goal po ng ating gobernadora is stronger La Union and tourism is a big factor para makamit ito,” said Guerrero.
LGUs with private partners and associations embarked in transforming pasalubong hubs all over the country as a market access platform for mainstream consumers.
The newly opened one-stop hub houses one of the province's best quality products, particularly processed food, souvenir items, gifts and decors, fashion accessories, among others. (JCR/AMB/KJCR, PIA La Union)
