More than 2,000 Isabeleño students receive DSWD Educational Assistance

ISABELA CITY, Basilan, Oct. 04 (PIA) – A total of 2,340 Isabeleño students received cash aid from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Educational Assistance under the Assistance in Crisis Situation (AICS) program for 2022.

Aisyl Sagoso-Atal, SWOII/DSWD-SWADT Isabela City, in an interview with the Philippine Information Agency, said their office disbursed funds with a total of Php6,361,000 for the 2,340 beneficiaries of Educational Assistance during the six Saturday’s pay-outs.

The pay-outs were conducted on six separate schedules; August 20 with 65 beneficiaries and disbursed a total amount of Php127,000; August 27 with 187 beneficiaries and Php478,000 disbursed; September 03 with 430 beneficiaries and disbursed Php1,277,000; September 10 with 631 beneficiaries and Php1,679,000 cash disbursed; September 17 with 690 beneficiaries and Php1,888,000 cash disbursed; and September 24 with 337 beneficiaries and disbursed Php912,000.

The DSWD Isabela City served a total of 635 elementary, 401 high school, 292 senior high school and 1,012 college students respectively.

Sagoso-Atal said the provision of Educational Assistance to indigent and student in crisis was successfully conducted because of the help of the local government and other sectors.

“The success of Educational Assistance through Assistance to Individual in Crisis Situation program of the DSWD was successfully conducted through the help of the City Government of Isabela headed by Hon Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman and other partners  who assisted us and provided us the venue for assessment and payout," SWADT Sagoso-Atal said.

Parents who received the educational assistance in behalf of their children are grateful to the government citing this as a big help to augment their expenses for the education of their students.

“Napakalaking tulong po ito upang mabili namin ang kailangan nila sa school at pati pandagdag sa pamasahe na rin nila araw-araw,” a mother with two children in college said.
