23 Ilongos hired during Iloilo's 'Job and Migrants Fair 2022'

ILOILO CITY (PIA) -- The recent Iloilo Public Employment Service Office's (PESO) Job and Migrants fair resulted in the instant hiring of 23 Ilonggo jobseekers.

These 23 jobseekers were hired as sales associates, cashiers, clerks, and baggers, while 142 participants were subject for further interviews.

A press report from PESO said that a total of 579 jobseekers and 19 employers joined the event, with over 2,300 job vacancies available.

“Overall, the event recorded a total of 559 qualified applicants for different job vacancies,” PESO said.

Help desks manned by government agencies were also placed to assist these job seekers and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

Simultaneous with the job fair, a forum on Anti-Human Trafficking for Barangay  PESOs coordinators was held followed by a Financial Literacy Workshop for OFWs.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) 6, along with the Iloilo Provincial Government, and Atikha, Inc., also inked a tripartite Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for organizing OFWs and families in the province of Iloilo.

The PESO job fair likewise featured a trade expo showcasing food products from OFW organizations of Oton, Pototan, Passi City, Badiangan, Barotac Viejo, and one OFW cooperative Ekolife.

PESO also noted that 10 local government units provided free transportation/fare services for their constituents to join the event. These towns include Estancia, Sta. Barbara, Concepcion, Sara, Igbaras, Tigbauan, New Lucena, Oton, Janiuay, and Barotac Viejo. (JBG/LMLE/PIA Iloilo/PESO)
