NSM 2022 kicks off in Antique with statistical exhibit

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) -- The celebration of National Statistics Month (NSM) 2022 here opened with a statistical exhibit at 3/F Robinsons Antique, October 3.

The statistical exhibit, which includes the 2020 Census of Housing and Population and 2021 Poverty Statistics, intends to promote the relevance of data and statistics to policy decisions and their implementation, as well as to the recovery of the province from the pandemic.

Among the exhibitors are the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

In her message, Governor Rhodora Cadiao reiterated the role of the public and private sectors in providing accurate data as a baseline for informed decisions and relevant legislation.

The NSM celebration is by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 647 which aims to promote and instill awareness of the importance of statistics in the different sectors of society.

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the Provincial Planning and Development Office-Research and Statistics Division (PPDO-RSD) are the lead agencies in the NSM celebration, with the theme “Boosting the country’s recovery with informed decisions, better policies.”

As part of the celebration, the PSA also opened a satellite PhilSys (Philippine Identification System) registration center on the 2nd floor of the same mall.

Antiqueños who have successfully applied and registered to PhilSys may also have their ePhilID printed, provided that their PhilSys Number (PSN) is validated.

The satellite registration center is open daily until December 2022. (AAL/BPS/PIA Antique)
